Tourism Park Management FdA (Part-time)

Course overview

This course is delivered at Kingston Maurward College in Dorchester, a BU Partner College

Tourism and Park Management is a growing industry which is becoming more prominent in the public eye. There is therefore an expectation that all staff involved in the running of such establishments will be professionally qualified and fully aware of all the issues facing such an industry.

Knowledge within the industry is developing rapidly e.g. awareness of the environmental impact of caravanning. Such problems, plus regular changes in legislation, require up-to-date information and research. Indeed, insurance companies are now demanding to witness relevant qualifications and professional development before agreeing Professional Indemnity insurance.

This course offers current information and use of techniques to assist practising or potential tourism and caravan park employers and employees to meet the ever changing needs of the industry and wider society.

The course has been designed in parallel to the Level 4 Diploma in Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism at Level C. This diploma will allow learners to gain an additional qualification, leave at the end of level C with an intermediate award or join the Foundation degree at Level I with Accredited Prior Learning.

In addition to the Work-based Learning unit, employer engagement will be embedded throughout the whole of the programme with the use of a key theme of ‘theory into practice’. It is anticipated that all learners will be nominated by their employers reflecting the support given to the course both by the employer liaison and CITO. Part of the delivery of the course will take place on employer’s premises.

The course focuses on the development of skills and knowledge appropriate to the caravan park industry and aims to provide learners with the skills and knowledge appropriate to managing a caravan park. It aims to provide learners with the skills necessary to enhance career prospects or to pursue further study.
