This programme is delivered at Bournemouth & Poole College, a market leader in the area of tourism management training.

Tourism is a tremendously diverse and important commercial activity locally, regionally, nationally, and throughout the world. It is an exciting industry which requires a range of complex skills.

This course has been developed in partnership with employers in the tourism sector and will give you high-quality, relevant knowledge and expertise that can be readily applied in the workplace. Vital personal attributes and competencies will be developed, such as effective communication, the ability to develop ideas and deal with change a fast moving industry. You will be taught to understand and appreciate the range of external factors that influence tourism businesses and organisations.

To be successful within Tourism Management, you will require a broad spectrum of additional skills. You will develop analytical and evaluative skills, be encouraged to demonstrate innovative approaches to the business and gain an understanding of marketing principles and practices, finance management, and other functions. You will learn to create business plans using the most-up-to-date IT business software, prepare marketing plans, income and expenditure statements, and cash flow forecasts. Through all this, you will gain industrial experience and knowledge that is highly valued by employers.

The course will be assessed by a range of methods, including submission of work-based assignments, which demonstrate that learning has been applied to the workplace.

Where will it take me?

By successfully completing a foundation degree you may choose to enter your chosen profession, progress onto further professional qualifications or complete a top-up course to achieve a full honours degree.
