When it comes to a rewarding career, you won't find many that have more to offer than saving people's lives by giving them urgent care at the scene of accidents and emergencies.

You will learn the theory behind the care that you give as a paramedic, as well as gain hands on experience in a variety of placements. In these placements you will learn about the role of the paramedic within the multi- disciplinary healthcare workforce. Due to the requirement for 1,500 hours of practice, the course will run over 46 weeks per year.

Successful completion of this course will confer eligibility to apply to register with the Health Professions Council (HPC).

Entry requirements:
For 2012 entry: 280 tariff points typically from 3 A Levels or equivelant. Candidates are required to have either Biology or Human Biology. Some experience in a paramedical/care environment is required.
For 2013 entry: 280 tariff points, from 3 A-levels or equivalent, with 100 in a required subject (e.g. B at A-level). BTEC Extended Diploma: DMM. Some experience in a paramedical / care environment is a requirement.

Recommended GCSEs:
A minimum of 4 (grades A*-C) including Maths and English or appropriate Key Skills Level 2. A Science subject is preferred
