Music and Audio Technology BSc (Hons)

Hear from current students

Find out about current student Nicolas Tang experiences of studying BSc (Hons) Music and Audio Technology at BU below.

I wanted more than the International Baccalaureate in order to get a job in a work environment I knew I would enjoy. I chose Bournemouth University because there is a good music scene, the university was quite high on the guardian university guide and has had a lot of positive reviews from past students. I chose the specific course because I have always been passionate about technology, new or old, and have a musical background. I hoped to achieve good results in my three years and be able to gain access to international job opportunities.

The lecturers are all very helpful, passionate and eager to teach you new things, you really feel that they care about the student’s results. Bournemouth is just the right size and has all the big shops and bars/pubs you would need from a bigger city in a smaller package. There are also loads of student deals to make life cheaper for students.

Hear what current student Oliver Wright has to say about studying BSc (Hons) Music and Audio Technology.

I have always had a massive passion for music. When I was 13 years of age the guitar really appealed to me. Little did I know this would turn into a big obsession for music! I really enjoy knowing how it all works as this really helps you to write and record as best you possibly can.

Bournemouth University has it all, from beaches to a really good nightlife. The facilities that the University offers are amazing for musician’s and media students and there are some of the best lecturers you will find. To learn from these people has made the University experience even more fulfilling. One thing I really enjoy about the course and the lecturers is that you are always learning new things. From room reflections and studio acoustics to the use of 5:1 surround sound. Since starting the course I have met some other musicians and I am now part of a touring band.

One aspect of Bournemouth University that appealed to me strongly is its location - you’re never too far away from the beach. It’s a course you can really get involved in, you are literally only held back by how much you can take in.
