You can choose your study base in Bournemouth or Portsmouth for this course.

This course will prepare you for registration as a midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) and to gain a professional qualification.

Throughout the course you will become a proficient and reflective practitioner of midwifery who is able to base their practice on research, holistic care and commitment to lifelong learning. Theory and practice are integrated throughout, and experience is gained in both community and hospital settings, working in partnership with mothers and midwives.

If you choose your teaching base in Bournemouth, you will have placements at one of the following locations: Dorchester, Poole/Bournemouth, Salisbury, Yeovil or Basingstoke/Winchester.

Entry requirements:
For 2012 entry: 320 tariff points, typically from 3 A-levels or equivalent. 100 points must be from Biology/Human Biology.
For 2013 entry: 340 tariff points, including 320 from 3 A-levels or equivalent, with a 100 in a required subject (e.g. B at A-level). BTEC Extended Diploma: DDD

Psychology, Physics, Chemistry, Sociology or PE.

Recommended GCSEs:
A minimum of 4 (grades A*-C) including English or appropriate Key Skills Level 2 and Maths Grade B/Key Skills Level 3 (for 2011 entry) or Maths Grade C/Key Skills Level 2 (for 2012 entry). A Science subject is preferred

If English is not your first language:
IELTS 7.0 (Academic) or above.
