FdSc Electrical Technology HNC/FdSc

Course overview

You can still apply to BU (including through UCAS Extra). Please apply through UCAS as soon as possible; your application can only be assessed once we have received it from UCAS.

Please note that this course is only recruiting to the part-time route for September 2012

This part time programme is delivered through the Faculty of Technology at The Bournemouth & Poole College's North Road campus in Poole, and covers both electronic and electrical systems. It will equip students with the skills and knowledge required to design, develop, and test high and low power systems. This includes both analogue and digital systems. The Power Systems module requires students to design and investigate circuits and devices used in power supply systems, driver / buffer circuits and power amplifiers. The Power and Control module includes areas such as EMC, electrical regulations, ladder logic and the control of motors. The course has extensive 'hands-on' activities and project work. Industry specific skills are developed with modules in Project management, System Design, and Fault Finding.

This course is part of the Electronic Technology Framework which consists of two pathways: The FdSc Electronics and Computer Technology and the FdSc Electrical Technology.

Both routes contain an HNC option aimed primarily at part-time students already in the industry. The first year of both the Electronics and Computer Technology and the Electrical Technology have a number of common units which allows possible progression for students of either HNC.
