This course is delivered at Bridgwater College.

Students will develop the knowledge and skills in the technical aspects of music/audio and new media technologies, enabling them to use the appropriate tools and techniques to integrate music audio, graphics in a creative context.

Students will have a broad understanding of recording and performances technologies, computers communication, digital media technologies, software development, standards and protocol. They will be able to use the tools and techniques for music/audio creation, production and processing to a professional standard and also develop a broad understanding of the music and audio industries and working practices.

This course is designed for students who have a strong interest in sound recording, music production and distribution and music software design and development. The first year of this course uses seminars and tutorials to develop recording and software skills whilst specialist skills are developed through a series of short production projects.

A strong focus of this course is preparing graduates for a range of career options in the modern music and audio industries, particularly, music production, performance & distribution, interactive audio software development, multimedia and web audio design.

In addition to the seminars training workshops and work placement projects, the course is supported by media and music practitioners and industry specialists and is the only Foundation degree programme in the South West to include the industry recognised Apple software training programme.

Bridgwater College has an impressive music department. There are three main Apple Macintosh computer music suites with each workstation equipped with Digidesign or M Audio hardware and Pro Tools, Logic Pro, BIAS Peak, Native instrument Reaktor, Sibelius, Reason and Ableton Live software packages. A fully equipped digital recording studio, seven independent rehearsal rooms and Two independent DJ mixing suites complete with Technics, Pioneer and Vestax vinyl and CD mixing equipment.
