This course was previously called FdSc Computer Games Design and is delivered at Bournemouth and Poole College.

The games industry has seen phenomenal growth in recent years. Advances in technology have ensured that the days where enthusiasts could programme games in their own bedrooms and make their fortune are long since gone. Gaming today is big business both online and offline, and there is high demand for computer games designers.

This course will provide you with both an understanding of the theory behind game design, and the practical skills and knowledge to put it into practice.

The exciting range of units on offer, in areas such as animation and 3D CGI modelling will provide you with the practical skills that employers are looking for in this fast-moving industry.

For 2012 entry: 120 tariff points from 2 A-levels, including a grade C in a relevant subject or an equivalent Level 3 qualification e.g. BTEC National Diploma or an Access to Higher Education Diploma.

Due to the high percentage of programming in this course, students will need a programming or mathematical background.

Recommended GCSEs:
Minimum of 4 GCSEs grades A* to C, including Maths and English, or appropriate Key Skills Level 2 or equivalent
