This course combines both accounting skills and legal knowledge, allowing you the opportunity to follow a career in either profession or to combine the two.

The accounting and legal professions are increasingly involved in multidisciplinary practices. Today's accountants need an understanding of the law, while commercial lawyers often operate in accounting and financial environments. You will develop the essential technical, interpersonal and commercial skills demanded for a career in either profession.

Flexibility to specialise

This course is part of our accounting framework which consists of a range of specialised courses:

Each of the courses in our Accounting Framework will give you those vital core skills, as well as offering more specialist options depending on the pathway you choose to pursue.

All courses' first year units are the same, allowing you the flexibility to transfer to another pathway at the end of the first year. This keeps your career options open and enables you to make more informed choices.

Accreditations

Courses within our accounting framework are accredited by the major accounting bodies including:

The accreditations or exemptions depend on the units that you choose to take. Your course academic team will offer you guidance on the best units to choose to suit and support your career aspirations.

In addition, you will be joining a Business School which has been awarded member status of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), internationally recognised as an accreditation body of excellence in management education.

Futher study opportunities

Graduates of non Qualifying Law Degrees who wish to train as a solicitor or barrister may apply to the Bar Standards Board or the Solicitors Regulatory Authority for an exemption from some subjects studied on the necessary academic training. Exemptions are awarded in accordance with the professional regulations and are at the discretion of the awarding body.

This course offers exemptions from our Common Professional Examination/ Graduate Diploma in Law (CPE/GDL) course.
