Multi-Media Journalism MA

Hear from current students

"As an Indian student looking to pursue a Masters course in Journalism in the UK, I found there were a lot of choices, not just in the number of universities offering the course, but also in terms of different kinds of journalism. After much research, I found that Multi-Media Journalism was exactly something I was looking for, because it did not restrict me to any particular media and gave me an opportunity to learn how to present the same story across different platforms – which is the future of Journalism. I checked a lot of lists and got in touch with a lot of BU graduates from India before applying for the course, and everything suggested that the BU Media School was definitely one of the best upcoming media schools in all of Europe.

And once I reached there, I was not disappointed. I found our news days the most helpful – which was basically a chance for the entire class to function as an actual newsroom and produce radio, TV and web bulletins. These news days were very hectic but also easily the most exciting time of the whole year. What also helped was the final production project where we were asked to make a journalistic website on any topic of our choice. It was a great way of culminating all the things we had learned in the duration of the course and gave us a chance to showcase our interests and skills. I still find the website a great way of profiling my work to potential employers, so I am glad I worked really hard for it – and not just for the grades. The Media School facilities are at par with the industry standard and it gave me great chance to acquire and hone my technical skills, too. There were also some interesting workshops and guest lectures on a variety of subjects, that I learned alot from.

My time at BU has been a brilliant experience and everything I did in the span of a year – including the three week placement that we were required to do as a part of the course – have definitely given me that extra edge over other graduates in India".
