Academic support

We have a network of purpose-built libraries, laboratories and open-learning centres equipped with the latest technology.

For example:

  • Our Sir Michael Cobham Library based at Talbot, together with our Bournemouth House Library based at Lansdowne, provides an extensive collection of over 40,000 e-books, 18,000 e-journals as well as printed collections - if we don't have what you need we will borrow from another library!
  • The library also has an online chat service as well as an out of office telephone service
  • Our Sir Michael Cobham Library also has an exclusive postgraduate study area with technopods for group study and a silent study area for individual work
  • Our open access computing centres are 24/7, and include key software and subject specific programs and access to library resources
  • Industry-ready equipment, hardware and software with specialist facilities in each of the Schools
  • Our Virtual Learning Environment, myBU, will support your studies and develop your academic skills. It has information on a variety of topics including academic writing, critical analysis, exam and revision techniques, referencing and oral presentations
