The short courses offer you the opportunity to escape the pressures and demands of your everyday role - by joining us here, down in Bournemouth, for a Creative Retreat. For two-days (Friday/Saturday), you will explore a specific area of interest with a range of like minded media professionals and input from academics and guest lecturers. But that is not all ...

The Academic Study Option ...

If you wish to work towards a Masters degree you have the opportunity after your 'Retreat' to develop your knowledge further with seven weeks of supported online study. After successful completion of each short course (creative retreat plus online tuition/support) you will be awarded 20 Level M (Masters) credits points; which if you so wish can contribute towards a Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma or Masters degree. The credits required for the various qualifications are shown below:

  • Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) = 60 M Level credits (or three of our short courses)
  • Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) = 120 M Level credits (or six of our short courses)
  • Masters Degree (MA) = 180 M Level credits (six of out short courses, a masters research project or production project and an exhibition)

We are pleased to announce our journalism short courses will be delivered in partnership with the Guardian Media Academy. Together we will provide you with highly focused journalism short courses to raise your media skills, as well as providing trainers who are among the best in their class with proven track records and a talent for imparting their expertise. The face-to-face teaching aspect of these courses will be delivered at the Guardian offices in London.

These courses are intended for media professionals who have been working in a relevant industry for at least two years. Some of the short courses will require a minimum level of technical/software skills before enrolment.
