Legal Practice Course LPC

Hear from current students

Hear from Summer Abrahams, a recent BU graduate now working as a Certified Paralegal for Ellis Jones:

Student experience...

"I studied the Law and Tax degree at BU, which was a great experience. I chose BU as I wanted to stay near home to study to keep costs to a minimum but also because of the reputable status BU has, especially for Law.

I wanted to achieve a recognised Law degree and I successfully did. I particularly enjoyed the practical elements of the course and this gave a good variation to the course. I especially liked moots!

I then went on to postgraduate study and was also successful in passing the Legal Practice Course. This course, although intense, gave me so much sound legal and financial knowledge from subjects studied such as accounting, company, property and family law which were only a few of the topics covered, together with other more practical topics such as advocacy, writing, drafting and interviewing.

My experience at BU has helped me immensely because I have been able to get excellent law based experience and employment in well-known firms in the area.

I really enjoyed studying at BU because of all the social events that went on and the support from lecturers was invaluable in helping me achieve my degree."

Summing up her time at BU...

"I had a great experience for both undergraduate and postgraduate study at BU. It's a supportive and friendly university looking after the best interests of its students."

Career...

"I have been fortunate enough to have extensive legal experience from my employment, having had six years experience in litigation, one year experience in wills and probate and now working in road traffic, family and licensing law.

I deal with clients on a daily basis, am involved in court work and am particularly interested in the road traffic element of the job which concerns people on speeding/drink driving/careless driving charges. It is a great sense of achievement to assist these clients who find themselves in difficult circumstances and achieve the best possible outcome for them.

I have been able to use a lot of the skills I obtained from the Legal Practice Course in applying them practically in my day to day role and a vast amount of legal knowledge obtained from my degree course."
