Leading and Developing Services MA (Part-time)

Course overview

This course provides managers and experienced health and social care professionals with the opportunity to develop and extend their knowledge of management theory and enhance their management practice. It will prepare you to take on first line, middle and senior management positions and supports organisations leadership and management strategies.

Would you benefit from developing your managerial skills?

The course is primarily aimed at managers already in post, although applications from experienced professionals who aspire to a management career are also welcomed. As the course requires the application of theory to workplace situations you must have supervisory responsibilities that allow you to complete the practice assessments.

The course is designed to meet the needs of managers who are registered social workers but is also open to candidates from other professional backgrounds in the Health, Public, Independent, Voluntary and Independent services.

How will I study?

This course is taught in monthly two-day block to suit the needs of busy professionals. Learning methods include interactive workshops together with more traditional learning materials supported by web-based resources. You will be responsible for managing individualised work-based projects that will not only develop your professional practice but impact on service quality. We encourage self-directed study so that you take responsibility for you own development. Our units and their assessment allow flexibility so that your learning can be shaped to meet your needs.
