Enabling Work Based Learning Level H credits

Course overview

The Centre for Post Qualifying Social Work offers a portfolio of courses designed to raise standards in social work practice and help social workers demonstrate their competence to work within complex situations.


Formerly called PQ 6, the Enabling Work-Based Learning unit has been developed within the revised Post Qualifying Social Work framework and will be an integral part of all specialist courses at Bournemouth University. This unit meets the GSCC standards for mentoring, practice teaching and assessment within the specialist awards.

This unit is also available as a stand-alone course open to professionals who wish to develop their skills and knowledge in enabling and assessing work-based learning. On successful completion of this course you will be awarded 20 level H credits.

This course is particularly suitable for those who are:

  • Contributing/assessing students on social work degree courses
  • Supporting/assessing students on PQ courses
  • Supporting/assessing the learning of non-qualified colleagues
  • Team leaders with a responsibility for staff development
  • Professionals with responsibility for mentoring others
  • Involved in the delivery of any other form of work-based learning
